In the glass, Antinori Tignanello 1997 shows a beautifully resolved, Bordelais-like character, with layers of blackcurrant and black cherry woven through cedar, sweet herbs, licorice and worn leather. The palate is creamy and seamless, its once-firm tannins now polished and pliant, carrying dark fruit, spice and a subtle tobacco savor into a long, harmonious finish that makes clear why this is one of the standout Tignanellos of its era.

Tignanello is Antinori’s iconic Super Tuscan red, sourced exclusively from the limestone- and marl-rich Tignanello vineyard in the heart of Chianti Classico and blending predominantly Sangiovese with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. A pioneering wine that was among the first Sangiovese aged in barrique and made without white grapes in Chianti Classico, it typically shows ripe red and black fruit, spice, tobacco and balsamic notes wrapped in polished tannins, uniting Tuscan terroir with a modern, ageworthy style.
