Château Pontet-Canet 2018 is a profoundly concentrated Pauillac, layering ripe blackcurrant and black cherry with plum, dried rose, cedar, tobacco leaf and a thread of minty, gravelly earth. The palate is opulent yet remarkably fresh, its satin tannins and vivid acidity driving a very long, spice-tinged finish that shows the depth and precision born of tiny yields and meticulous biodynamic work. A characterful, modern-classic Pontet-Canet that will reward patience.
