Chateau Lafleur 2016 Vintage Overview

2016 OVERVIEW

Meeting 2016 Chateau Lafleur feels like stepping into a dim, fragrant cellar: blackcurrant and raspberry fruit are etched with rose, dark chocolate and a cool stony edge, all wrapped in ultra-fine, creamy tannins that glide rather than grip. The wine is compact yet floating, with a quiet, coiled power and a finish that trails on in layers of red and black fruit, subtle spice and earthy depth—serious, hauntingly beautiful Pomerol that rewards patience and contemplation.

About Chateau Lafleur

Château Lafleur by Château Lafleur is one of Pomerol’s most coveted and rare reds, a tiny 4–4.5 ha “boutique” grand vin planted in an unusually equal mix of Merlot and Cabernet Franc (Bouchet) on a complex mosaic of clay- and gravel-based soils opposite Château Pétrus. This distinctive cépage and low-yield, rigorously traditional viticulture yield a powerful yet refined wine of great minerality, floral lift, and longevity, often described as among Bordeaux’s most individualistic and ageworthy wines.
