Chateau Lafleur 2010 Vintage Overview

2010 OVERVIEW

Dark, dense fruit and heady florals pour from the glass of 2010 Château Lafleur, layered with cedar, tobacco leaf, spice and a cool graphite edge that speaks to its Cabernet Franc core. On the palate it feels powerful yet weightless, a cascade of blackcurrant, plum and cherry framed by firm, fine-grained tannins and a long, mineral, almost iron-tinged finish that shows why this acclaimed vintage is built for decades. This is Lafleur at its most intense and refined, still youthful but already hauntingly complex.

About Chateau Lafleur

Château Lafleur by Château Lafleur is one of Pomerol’s most coveted and rare reds, a tiny 4–4.5 ha “boutique” grand vin planted in an unusually equal mix of Merlot and Cabernet Franc (Bouchet) on a complex mosaic of clay- and gravel-based soils opposite Château Pétrus. This distinctive cépage and low-yield, rigorously traditional viticulture yield a powerful yet refined wine of great minerality, floral lift, and longevity, often described as among Bordeaux’s most individualistic and ageworthy wines.
