Chateau Gruaud Larose 2023 Vintage Overview

2023 OVERVIEW

Structure comes first in the 2023 Château Gruaud Larose, with a firmly Cabernet-driven frame that wraps dense black cherry and blackberry fruit in savoury graphite, tobacco and subtle floral tones. The palate feels serious yet not austere, with lively acidity keeping the powerful core of dark fruit, spice and earth lifted and giving the wine both classical charm and impressive depth. This is a poised, old-school Saint-Julien that clearly has the stuffing to age while remaining inviting enough that you won’t have to wait decades to enjoy it.

About Chateau Gruaud Larose

Château Gruaud Larose is the grand vin of this historic Saint-Julien deuxième cru classé, a Cabernet Sauvignon–led blend (with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) from a single, gravelly plateau overlooking the Garonne. Today farmed organically and increasingly biodynamically, it’s known for producing dense, structured, ageworthy wines that marry blackcurrant and dark plum fruit with notes of liquorice, tobacco and spice, evolving toward great finesse and complexity with time in bottle.
