Château Gruaud Larose is a historic Second Growth estate in Saint-Julien, founded in 1725 by Abbé Joseph Stanislas Gruaud and later expanded and renamed by his heir, the Chevalier de Larose. Its reputation was cemented in the 1855 classification, and after a period of fragmented ownership, the Cordier family reunited the property in the early 20th century. Since 1997 it has been owned by the Taillan Group (Merlaut family), who have invested heavily in vineyard renewal and quality-focused viticulture.
