Chateau Gruaud Larose 2000 Vintage Overview

2000 OVERVIEW

From the glass, the 2000 Château Gruaud Larose feels like classic, old-school Saint-Julien turned up a notch: deep blackcurrant and raspberry fruit layered with cedar, tobacco leaf, dried flowers and a gently gamey, savory edge. The palate is broad and powerful yet now beautifully resolved, the once-firm tannins melted into a rich, earthy, long finish that shows why this has become one of the standout wines of the estate in this celebrated vintage.

About Chateau Gruaud Larose

Château Gruaud Larose is the grand vin of this historic Saint-Julien deuxième cru classé, a Cabernet Sauvignon–led blend (with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) from a single, gravelly plateau overlooking the Garonne. Today farmed organically and increasingly biodynamically, it’s known for producing dense, structured, ageworthy wines that marry blackcurrant and dark plum fruit with notes of liquorice, tobacco and spice, evolving toward great finesse and complexity with time in bottle.
