Chateau Gruaud Larose 2022 Vintage Overview

2022 OVERVIEW

Intensity comes first with Chateau Gruaud Larose 2022: dense blackcurrant and blackberry layered with dark chocolate, coffee bean and graphite, yet carried on a surprisingly vivid, mouthwatering line of acidity. The high proportion of Cabernet brings a firm, finely ground tannic frame and a cool, mineral edge, giving this rich, full-bodied Saint-Julien both polish and a sense of controlled power. This is a modern, concentrated Gruaud with real precision and a long, savory, spice-tinged finish that clearly signals grand, long-lived potential.

About Chateau Gruaud Larose

Château Gruaud Larose is the grand vin of this historic Saint-Julien deuxième cru classé, a Cabernet Sauvignon–led blend (with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) from a single, gravelly plateau overlooking the Garonne. Today farmed organically and increasingly biodynamically, it’s known for producing dense, structured, ageworthy wines that marry blackcurrant and dark plum fruit with notes of liquorice, tobacco and spice, evolving toward great finesse and complexity with time in bottle.
