Masseto 2020 Vintage Overview

2020 OVERVIEW

Dark, glossy fruit rolls through Masseto 2020, layering ripe plum, blackberry and wild berry compote with hints of roasted coffee, cocoa, dried flowers and a twist of orange peel, all wrapped in a plush yet firmly structured frame. The palate feels deep and concentrated but remarkably light on its feet, with ultra-fine tannins, bright acidity and a long, savory trail of spice and mineral warmth that shows both the power of the hot vintage and a very precise hand in the vineyard. This is a statuesque, tightly coiled Masseto that promises even greater nuance with time in bottle.

About Masseto

Masseto by Masseto is an iconic, single-vineyard Super Tuscan red made entirely from Merlot, grown on just seven hectares of blue- and grey-clay soils on the Masseto hill in Bolgheri on Tuscany’s coast. Crafted by the Masseto estate (historically part of Tenuta dell’Ornellaia), it marries the power and richness of perfectly ripened Merlot with a distinctive mineral-driven elegance and longevity, earning it a reputation as one of Italy’s most collectible and sought-after wines, often likened to “the Italian Pétrus.”
