Masseto 2017 Vintage Overview

2017 OVERVIEW

From a hot, early-picked year, Masseto 2017 wraps lush blackberry, blueberry and black cherry fruit in dark chocolate, licorice and tobacco tones, all carried on a velvety but tightly coiled frame that shows its power without losing precision. The tannins feel silky yet firm and driven, the finish is long and savory-sweet, and the overall impression is of a hedonistic Merlot that still has the poise to age beautifully.

About Masseto

Masseto by Masseto is an iconic, single-vineyard Super Tuscan red made entirely from Merlot, grown on just seven hectares of blue- and grey-clay soils on the Masseto hill in Bolgheri on Tuscany’s coast. Crafted by the Masseto estate (historically part of Tenuta dell’Ornellaia), it marries the power and richness of perfectly ripened Merlot with a distinctive mineral-driven elegance and longevity, earning it a reputation as one of Italy’s most collectible and sought-after wines, often likened to “the Italian Pétrus.”
