Masseto 2008 Vintage Overview

2008 OVERVIEW

Deep-toned Merlot richness in Masseto 2008 comes wrapped in a surprisingly poised, almost classical frame, layering ripe black plum and blackberry with hints of dark cocoa, dried herbs and a faint, stony edge. The palate is dense yet silky, the tannins firm but polished, driving a long, resonant finish that shows why this vintage is so revered for both power and refinement. This is a serious, contemplative wine that still has plenty of energy and detail to reveal with time in bottle or decanter.

About Masseto

Masseto by Masseto is an iconic, single-vineyard Super Tuscan red made entirely from Merlot, grown on just seven hectares of blue- and grey-clay soils on the Masseto hill in Bolgheri on Tuscany’s coast. Crafted by the Masseto estate (historically part of Tenuta dell’Ornellaia), it marries the power and richness of perfectly ripened Merlot with a distinctive mineral-driven elegance and longevity, earning it a reputation as one of Italy’s most collectible and sought-after wines, often likened to “the Italian Pétrus.”
