Harlan Estate 1997 Vintage Overview

1997 OVERVIEW

Power and hedonism define the 1997 Harlan Estate, which surges from the glass with dense blackcurrant and blackberry compote, espresso roast, dark chocolate and warm baking spices, all wrapped in a lavish cloak of sweet oak. On the palate it is plush and enveloping yet impeccably proportioned, with layers of ripe black fruit and savory mineral tones that roll on in a remarkably long, seamless finish. This is a benchmark, fully loaded Napa Cabernet blend that still shows stunning vitality and depth at mature age.

About Harlan Estate

Harlan Estate is the eponymous flagship Bordeaux-style red from Harlan Estate in the western hills of Oakville, Napa Valley, a Cabernet Sauvignon–based blend drawn from low-yielding vines on steep volcanic and sedimentary soils between roughly 225 and 1,225 feet of elevation. Produced in tiny quantities (around 2,000 cases) and long celebrated for its power, longevity, and complex dark-fruit, floral, and savory notes, it is widely regarded as one of California’s benchmark “cult” wines and a modern First Growth analogue.
