Chateau Montrose 2023 Vintage Overview

2023 OVERVIEW

Gravely serious and intensely pure, Chateau Montrose 2023 layers dense blackcurrant and blackberry fruit with graphite, dark chocolate, violet and a cool, stony edge, all wrapped in tightly woven but impeccably refined tannins. The palate feels vertical and deep rather than broad, driving in a straight line of concentrated Cabernet power, with vivid acidity and a long, resonant, almost architectural finish that clearly marks this as one of the great modern Montrose vintages. Patience will be richly rewarded, as this is built first and foremost for the cellar.

About Chateau Montrose

Château Montrose is the powerful, Cabernet Sauvignon–led grand vin of this famed Second Growth estate in Saint-Estèphe, drawn from a single, gravel-and-clay hillside vineyard overlooking the Gironde. Known for its dense structure, deep black-fruit character, and strongly tannic, ageworthy style, it is considered a benchmark “Super Second” that in great vintages rivals the First Growths. The wine’s precision and intensity are closely tied to its elite Médoc terraces and rigorously managed, parcel-by-parcel viticulture.
