Chateau Montrose 2021 Vintage Overview

2021 OVERVIEW

In 2021, Château Montrose offers a finely etched, classically styled Saint-Estèphe, with pure cassis and blackcurrant layered over cool stones, violets, tobacco leaf and a touch of dark earth. The palate is medium-bodied yet deep at the core, driven by bright, energizing acidity and very polished tannins that give the wine a poised, almost aristocratic feel rather than sheer power. This is a more slender, precise Montrose that emphasizes clarity, finesse and terroir detail over opulence, and it should evolve beautifully in bottle.

About Chateau Montrose

Château Montrose is the powerful, Cabernet Sauvignon–led grand vin of this famed Second Growth estate in Saint-Estèphe, drawn from a single, gravel-and-clay hillside vineyard overlooking the Gironde. Known for its dense structure, deep black-fruit character, and strongly tannic, ageworthy style, it is considered a benchmark “Super Second” that in great vintages rivals the First Growths. The wine’s precision and intensity are closely tied to its elite Médoc terraces and rigorously managed, parcel-by-parcel viticulture.
