Chateau Montrose 2020 Vintage Overview

2020 OVERVIEW

Chateau Montrose 2020 is a powerful yet finely etched Saint-Estèphe, packed with dark cassis and blueberry fruit layered over graphite, tobacco leaf, violets and smoky, earthy complexities. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated but strikingly composed, its ripe, powdery tannins and vibrant mineral backbone driving a very long, resonant finish. A monumental, classical Montrose that marries muscle with exceptional precision and purity.

About Chateau Montrose

Château Montrose is the powerful, Cabernet Sauvignon–led grand vin of this famed Second Growth estate in Saint-Estèphe, drawn from a single, gravel-and-clay hillside vineyard overlooking the Gironde. Known for its dense structure, deep black-fruit character, and strongly tannic, ageworthy style, it is considered a benchmark “Super Second” that in great vintages rivals the First Growths. The wine’s precision and intensity are closely tied to its elite Médoc terraces and rigorously managed, parcel-by-parcel viticulture.
