Echo de Lynch Bages 2020 Vintage Overview

2020 OVERVIEW

Deep Pauillac fruit leads the 2020 Echo de Lynch-Bages, packed with dark cassis and plum layered over pencil shavings, wild violets and a faint, savory, mineral edge. The palate feels bold yet refined, with youthful, chewy tannins and a fresh line of acidity that carry the wine in a long, focused finish, giving this “second” wine a seriousness and energy that echo classic Lynch-Bages of earlier decades.

About Echo de Lynch Bages

Echo de Lynch-Bages is the second wine of Pauillac fifth growth Château Lynch-Bages, produced mainly from the estate’s younger vines on the gravelly Bages plateau overlooking the Gironde. Created in 1976 (long known as Château Haut-Bages Averous and renamed Echo de Lynch-Bages from 2008), it offers a more approachable, supple and early-drinking expression of the Lynch-Bages style, typically blending Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot (and sometimes Cabernet Franc) to give silky tannins, fresh red and black fruit, and good aging potential.
