Cornas Reynard 2019 Vintage Overview

2019 OVERVIEW

Dark and brooding at first, 2019 Thierry Allemand Cornas Reynard slowly reveals a soaring core of black cherry and cassis layered with smoke, iron, wild herbs and a savory, bacon-like depth. The palate is powerful and tightly coiled, packed with dense, perfectly ripe fruit and vivid acidity, all wrapped in gripping yet refined tannins that make this brilliant, much-lauded vintage clearly built for the long haul.

About Cornas Reynard

Cornas Reynard is Thierry Allemand’s flagship old-vine Cornas, a 100% Syrah cuvée drawn from his oldest, steep, granitic parcels in the Reynard climat and surrounding ancient terraces once farmed by Noël and Louis Verset. Organically worked and whole-cluster fermented, then aged about two years in used foudres and barriques, it’s renowned for combining deep, dark, mineral-inflected power with remarkable finesse, perfume, and longevity, and is widely regarded as one of the reference wines of the Cornas appellation.
