Intensity is the calling card of Louis Jadot’s 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Estournelles Saint-Jacques Premier Cru: deep black cherry and cassis layered with rose, spice and stony, cool-slope minerality are framed by firm, chalky tannins and vivid acidity. It feels closer to a young Grand Cru in structure than a typical premier cru, currently taut and compact but clearly set up for graceful, complex evolution in bottle.
