Cote Rotie La Mouline 2018 Vintage Overview

2018 OVERVIEW

From the steep terraces above Côte Rôtie, Guigal’s 2018 La Mouline is a sumptuous, full-bodied Syrah that saturates the senses with ripe black raspberry, blueberry compote, and a lift of apricot and heady flowers from the dash of Viognier. The palate is lavish yet weightless, with cashmere-like tannins, layers of sweet exotic spice and dark cocoa, and a finish that sails on with remarkable purity and length—an especially seductive and complete expression even by La Mouline’s lofty standards.

About Cote Rotie La Mouline

Guigal’s Côte-Rôtie La Mouline is one of the estate’s iconic “La-La” wines, a tiny 1‑hectare, amphitheater-shaped vineyard on the Côte Blonde planted with very old Syrah and about 11% Viognier, some vines dating back to the 1890s. Co‑fermented and aged for around 40 months in 100% new oak, it is famed for its intensely aromatic, silky and “feminine” style, marrying red and black berry fruit, violets and spice with voluptuous texture and remarkable finesse that express this historic, sun‑trap terroir.
