Silky yet deeply concentrated, the 2016 Guigal Côte Rôtie La Mouline layers lush black raspberry and blueberry fruit with violets, sweet spice, and a touch of smoked meat and cocoa. The palate is opulent but poised, with velvety tannins, superb freshness, and a long, mineral-tinged finish that shows the vintage’s refined, classical character. This is a sensual, detailed La Mouline that is already giving immense pleasure but clearly built for the long haul.

Guigal’s Côte-Rôtie La Mouline is one of the estate’s iconic “La-La” wines, a tiny 1‑hectare, amphitheater-shaped vineyard on the Côte Blonde planted with very old Syrah and about 11% Viognier, some vines dating back to the 1890s. Co‑fermented and aged for around 40 months in 100% new oak, it is famed for its intensely aromatic, silky and “feminine” style, marrying red and black berry fruit, violets and spice with voluptuous texture and remarkable finesse that express this historic, sun‑trap terroir.
