Berardenga Chianti Classico Riserva 2019 Vintage Overview

2019 OVERVIEW

A poised and characterful Riserva, the 2019 Berardenga opens with dark cherry, blood orange and woodland berry layered with violets, licorice, tobacco and a touch of smoky spice. The palate is both vibrant and brooding, with concentrated red and black fruit framed by firm, fine-grained tannins and a streak of savory mineral and herbal notes, finishing long, fresh and delicately balsamic. This is a refined yet authentically rustic expression of Sangiovese that will gain in nuance with time in bottle.

A selection of the estate’s best parcels, it is traditionally vinified and aged 12–16 months in Slavonian casks and used French barriques, typically showing ruby color, dark cherry and wild berry fruit, floral and mineral tones, and firm but supple tannins that give it notab…
