I Sodi Di San Niccolo 2021 Vintage Overview

2021 OVERVIEW

Structure and finesse define Castellare di Castellina’s 2021 I Sodi di San Niccolò, layering dark cherry, plum and blackberry fruit with hints of cocoa, tobacco, herbs and rose petals over a firmly tannic, graphite-tinged frame. The wine feels powerful yet controlled, its vibrant acidity and mineral depth promising a long evolution as the currently compact core slowly releases more nuance and charm. A standout, ageworthy Tuscan classic in a particularly successful vintage.

About I Sodi Di San Niccolo

I Sodi di San Niccolò is Castellare di Castellina’s flagship “Super Tuscan,” a Toscana IGT red built almost entirely from old-vine native grapes (primarily Sangioveto with a smaller share of Malvasia Nera) from a high-altitude, limestone, single-vineyard cru in Castellina in Chianti. Fermented in steel and aged extensively in barrique and bottle, it’s known for combining intense ripe red and dark fruit, spice, and licorice notes with vibrant acidity, fine tannins, and outstanding longevity, making it one of Tuscany’s benchmark ageworthy wines.
