Inky yet poised, the 2021 Wynns Coonawarra Estate John Riddoch Estate Cabernet Sauvignon layers pure blackcurrant and dark plum fruit with hints of tobacco, cocoa, espresso and subtle dried herb, all carried on a long, vibrant line of acidity. The tannins are fine, structured and plentiful rather than aggressive, giving the wine both intensity and lift, and a strong sense of Coonawarra’s red soil and cool climate in its savory, persistent finish.
Dry-aged ribeye with rosemary and garlic, roast lamb shoulder with olive and thyme, mushroom and truffle risotto

John Riddoch Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is Wynns Coonawarra Estate’s flagship red, a tiny-production Cabernet drawn from the finest parcels of the estate’s old-vine plantings on Coonawarra’s famed terra rossa soils. First released in 1982 and made only in outstanding vintages from less than one percent of the best Cabernet fruit, it is a benchmark Australian Cabernet: medium-bodied yet powerful, with pure blackcurrant and dark cherry fruit, regional notes of mint, earth and cedar, and the fine tannin structure to age gracefully for decades.
