Coeur de Cuvee Brut Premier Cru 2016 Vintage Overview

2016 OVERVIEW

Energy and precision define the 2016 Vilmart & Cie Coeur de Cuvée Brut Premier Cru, which channels citrus zest, green apple and quince over a core of chalky minerality and subtle pastry spice from barrel aging. The palate is taut and focused yet layered, with a lacy mousse and a long, saline, mouthwatering finish that shows the vintage’s tension and clarity rather than opulence. This is a vinous, contemplative Champagne that will reward patience and careful serving in a proper glass.

About Coeur de Cuvee Brut Premier Cru

Coeur de Cuvée Brut Premier Cru from Vilmart & Cie is the house’s flagship Champagne—the “heart of the cuvée” drawn from the estate’s oldest Premier Cru vines (chiefly in Rilly‑la‑Montagne), typically blended about 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir. Vinified largely in small oak barrels with no malolactic fermentation and aged many years on the lees before a low-to-moderate dosage (around 7 g/L), it shows a tension between rich, honeyed, brioche-like texture and bright citrus/white‑flower lift with chalky minerality and long saline length.
