Cuvee 'S' Le Mesnil Blanc de Blancs Brut 2002 Vintage Overview

2002 OVERVIEW

From the first sip, 2002 Salon Cuvée ‘S’ Le Mesnil Blanc de Blancs feels like a laser of ripe citrus and orchard fruit wrapped in pastry and crushed stone, at once generous and incredibly tight-focused. Rich notes of tangerine, pear tart, toasted nuts and subtle honey are cut through by a salty, stony core and brisk acidity, giving the wine immense drive and a finish that seems to hum on the palate for minutes. This famously brilliant vintage shows Salon in a more powerful, concentrated guise, yet it remains graceful, intellectual and just beginning to show its true depth.

Cuvee 'S' Le Mesnil Blanc de Blancs Brut by Salon is an ultra-prestige, 100% Chardonnay Champagne produced only in exceptional vintages from Grand Cru vineyards in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, including the house’s famed Jardin de Salon. Vinified in stainless steel with no malolactic fermentation and aged around a decade on lees, it is famed for its combination of laser-like acidity, chalky Côte des Blancs minerality, and intense yet restrained power, evolving slowly into layers of citrus, white flowers, brioche, and hazelnut. Produced as a single-vinta…
