Galatrona 2021 Vintage Overview

2021 OVERVIEW

Subtle florals and wild herbs lead into a deep core of blackcurrant, blackberry and dark cherry on the 2021 Petrolo Galatrona, framed by hints of spice, cedar and warm earth. The palate is plush yet controlled, with silky, fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity giving this pure Merlot both richness and remarkable lift, finishing long, precise and very youthful. A superbly focused, energetic expression that promises even greater complexity with time in bottle.

About Galatrona

Galatrona is Petrolo’s flagship, single-vineyard Merlot from the clay‑rich, schist- and sandstone-influenced Galatrona-Feriale site in the Val d’Arno di Sopra DOC on the southeastern edge of the Chianti hills. First produced in 1994 and now farmed organically, it’s conceived as a Tuscan “grand cru” Merlot, known for its combination of dense structure, dark-fruited richness, and refined, terroir-driven elegance that has made it one of Italy’s most acclaimed modern reds.
