Galatrona 2018 Vintage Overview

2018 OVERVIEW

Cool-toned dark fruit pours from the glass of Petrolo Galatrona 2018: black cherry and blueberry layered with hints of violet, cocoa and sweet spice. On the palate it’s polished and deep yet never heavy, with sleek Merlot richness framed by fine-grained, persistent tannins and a vibrant, mouthwatering line that gives this acclaimed vintage both grace and longevity.

About Galatrona

Galatrona is Petrolo’s flagship, single-vineyard Merlot from the clay‑rich, schist- and sandstone-influenced Galatrona-Feriale site in the Val d’Arno di Sopra DOC on the southeastern edge of the Chianti hills. First produced in 1994 and now farmed organically, it’s conceived as a Tuscan “grand cru” Merlot, known for its combination of dense structure, dark-fruited richness, and refined, terroir-driven elegance that has made it one of Italy’s most acclaimed modern reds.
