Ermitage de l'Oree Blanc 2020 Vintage Overview

2020 OVERVIEW

Gentle at first but deeply intense, the 2020 M. Chapoutier Ermitage de l’Orée Blanc layers ripe white peach, melon and currant with acacia blossom, warm grain and a touch of smoky mineral depth. The palate feels broad yet finely controlled, silky and concentrated, finishing very long with a subtle, appetising bitterness that hints at its impressive structure and potential. This vintage comes across as serious, youthful and coiled, promising even greater complexity with time in bottle.

About Ermitage de l'Oree Blanc

Ermitage de l’Oree Blanc is M. Chapoutier’s monumental dry white Hermitage, a 100% Marsanne from old vines in the Les Murets parcel on the eastern flank of the hill, farmed biodynamically and raised largely in demi-muids. It is famed for its intense golden color, opulent texture and layered flavors—ripe stone fruits, honey, roasted nuts and warm stones lifted by floral and citrus notes—yet it remains finely etched and long-lived, capable of evolving for decades in bottle.
