The Armagh Shiraz 2009 Vintage Overview

2009 OVERVIEW

Dark, brooding fruit powers through Jim Barry The Armagh Shiraz 2009, layering saturated blackberry and plum with waves of dark chocolate, clove and sweet spice from its long spell in French and American oak. The palate is immense yet controlled: thickly textured, richly flavored and driven by muscular tannins that frame the fruit rather than smother it, giving a long, warming finish that still feels coiled with energy. An impressive, old-school Barossa-style statement that combines sheer density with real class and the promise of further complexity in the cellar.

Typically deeply coloured, powerful and long-lived yet refined, it layers concentrated blackberry and black cherry fruit with mocha, spice, dark chocolate and fine, gravelly tannins, expressing both the warmth of its northwest-facing aspect and the cool-night structure that marks top Cl…
