Brunello di Montalcino 2019 Vintage Overview

2019 OVERVIEW

Deep, dark fruit and sweet-savory spice define Il Poggione’s 2019 Brunello di Montalcino, with black cherry, licorice, tobacco and wild herbs layered over a subtle earthy core. Full-bodied and warm yet balanced, it glides on velvety but assertive tannins and bright acidity, promising greater harmony and complexity with a few more years in bottle. This vintage shows both the power of the estate and the poised, classical structure of 2019 in Montalcino.

About Brunello di Montalcino

Il Poggione’s Brunello di Montalcino is a benchmark, traditionally styled 100% Sangiovese from the warm, southwest sector of the appellation around Sant’Angelo in Colle, fermented in stainless steel and typically aged about three years in large French oak casks before extended bottle age. It is known for combining southern Montalcino power and concentration with freshness: dark cherry and blackberry layered with leather, tobacco, spice and earthy notes, firm but polished tannins, and a structure that rewards long-term cellaring across vintages.
