Cote Rotie La Landonne 2019 Vintage Overview

2019 OVERVIEW

Immense and brooding, Guigal’s 2019 Côte-Rôtie La Landonne is packed with black plum and cherry fruit wrapped in layers of smoke, espresso, dark chocolate and crushed rock, all framed by monumental yet perfectly sculpted tannins. The wine feels both muscular and finely tailored, with a deeply savory, meaty undertow and a finish that seems to rumble on endlessly—an epic, old-school La Landonne that demands patience and promises decades of evolution.

About Cote Rotie La Landonne

Guigal’s Côte-Rôtie La Landonne is a legendary, single-vineyard 100% Syrah from the steep, iron-rich clay-limestone slopes of the La Landonne lieu-dit on the Côte Brune, conceived as the powerful, brooding counterpart to La Mouline. Vinified largely with whole clusters and given an exceptionally long élevage in new oak (around 40–42 months), it is famed for its massive structure, dense black fruit, smoked meat, olive and licorice complexity, and its ability to age gracefully for decades.
