Cote Rotie La Landonne 2017 Vintage Overview

2017 OVERVIEW

Power surges from the glass here, with Guigal Côte Rôtie La Landonne 2017 delivering a dark, brooding core of black cherry and cassis layered with charred game, tapenade, cocoa and crushed rock. The palate is massive yet precisely etched, stacked with dense fruit, vigorous acidity and muscular tannins that promise decades of development rather than immediate charm. This is a formidable, long-haul La Landonne, built more for future grandeur than for early seduction.

About Cote Rotie La Landonne

Guigal’s Côte-Rôtie La Landonne is a legendary, single-vineyard 100% Syrah from the steep, iron-rich clay-limestone slopes of the La Landonne lieu-dit on the Côte Brune, conceived as the powerful, brooding counterpart to La Mouline. Vinified largely with whole clusters and given an exceptionally long élevage in new oak (around 40–42 months), it is famed for its massive structure, dense black fruit, smoked meat, olive and licorice complexity, and its ability to age gracefully for decades.
