Gentle, slow-building aromatics of dried rose, cedar, warm spice and macerated cherries lead into a Giuseppe Quintarelli Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2018 that feels almost weightless yet saturates the palate with red and black berries. The tannins are ultra-fine and sweet-edged, the fruit lifted and pure, and the finish glows with inner florals, dark licorice and a lingering mineral dustiness that suggests impressive grace and longevity. This vintage shows Quintarelli’s trademark richness, but in an especially composed, poised and radiant style.
