Barolo Ginestra Casa Mate 2020 Vintage Overview

2020 OVERVIEW

From Elio Grasso’s Ginestra slope, the 2020 Barolo Ginestra Casa Matè shows lifted red-toned fruit layered with dark spice, dried herbs, and a touch of warm earth, all wrapped in a vivid, perfumed nose. The palate is broader and more velvety than in many vintages, with generous, sweet-edged tannins and a long, savory finish that already feels remarkably harmonious. A serious, structured Barolo that offers early charm without sacrificing depth or aging potential.

About Barolo Ginestra Casa Mate

Barolo Ginestra Casa Maté by Elio Grasso is a powerful yet finely etched single‑cru Barolo from the south‑facing Casa Maté parcel of Ginestra in Monforte d’Alba, planted to old Nebbiolo vines on limestone‑clay soils at 300–350 meters. Traditionally vinified and aged long in large Slavonian oak, it’s known for its combination of dark, ripe fruit, menthol and licorice tones, firm but polished tannins, and an ability to age into a deeply complex, truffle‑tinged wine that expresses the more sumptuous, muscular side of Monforte’s terroir.
