2023 Pro Rating
Deeply fruited and classically Pauillac in feel, Les Griffons de Pichon Baron 2023 layers ripe blackcurrant and plum with hints of dark chocolate and gentle spice, all wrapped in fine, chalky tannins. Medium to full in body yet notably fluid through the mid-palate, it shows good concentration without excess weight, finishing long and focused with a lingering, graphite-like grip that echoes the grand vin’s structure in a slightly more approachable frame.
grilled ribeye steak, roast lamb with garlic and rosemary, duck breast with blackcurrant jus

Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is the more structured of Château Pichon-Longueville Baron’s two second wines from Pauillac, created in 2012 and sourced mainly from gravelly plots close to the Gironde that particularly favor Cabernet Sauvignon. Typically a Cabernet/Merlot-dominant blend with some Petit Verdot, it offers a pure, vigorous and fresh expression of the estate’s muscular Pauillac style—full-bodied yet clean and energetic—with enough depth and tannic backbone to age for two decades while remaining approachable in its youth.
