2020 Pro Rating
Deep Pauillac fruit rolls out in Chateau Batailley 2020, all cool blackcurrant and black cherry layered with cedar, tobacco leaf and a stony, graphite edge. Medium to full in weight but calm and composed, it glides on fine, velvety tannins and mouthwatering acidity, finishing long, savoury and classically framed with just enough modern polish to make it already hugely enjoyable. This vintage feels both serious and generous, promising proper cellar-worthiness without sacrificing charm in the glass.

Château Batailley is the estate’s flagship grand vin, a classic Pauillac and Cinquième Grand Cru Classé crafted primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and a touch of Petit Verdot, grown on deep gravel soils at the southwestern tip of the appellation. Typically dark, structured and ageworthy, it shows Pauillac’s hallmark cassis, graphite and tobacco notes wrapped in firm but polished tannins, offering a powerful yet refined expression of Médoc terroir that can evolve gracefully for decades.
