Coleraine 2022 Vintage Overview

2022 OVERVIEW

Dark currant and graphite stream from Te Mata Estate Coleraine 2022, edged with dried tobacco, cedar spice and a cool leafy lift that keeps this warm vintage feeling taut and composed. The palate is medium-bodied yet wonderfully intense, packed with pure black fruit, fine gravelly tannins and a bright line of acidity that tightens the long, savory finish. It feels aristocratic but not showy, a classically shaped Cabernet blend that will reward patience rather than instant gratification.

About Coleraine

Coleraine is Te Mata Estate’s flagship Cabernet Sauvignon–Merlot–Cabernet Franc blend from the Havelock Hills of Hawke’s Bay, widely regarded as New Zealand’s benchmark Bordeaux-style red. First made in 1982 and now drawn from the estate’s oldest, steep hillside vineyards on free-draining soils, it marries pure cassis and dark berry fruit, floral perfume, and cedary graphite complexity with finely chiselled tannins and remarkable capacity to age.
