Power and polish collide in Ridge Vineyards Geyserville 2021, a dark-fruited field blend that swirls together plum, blackberry, peppery spice, vanilla and smoky oak in a firmly structured frame. The palate feels concentrated yet graceful, with vibrant acidity and tannins that clamp down on the finish, clearly signaling this is built for the cellar more than immediate comfort. Give it air now, or a few years in bottle, and expect the current muscle and oak to resolve into something deeply layered and savory.

Geyserville by Ridge Vineyards is an iconic, single-site field blend from old vines in Sonoma’s Alexander Valley, centered on Zinfandel with significant Carignane and smaller portions of Petite Sirah and other historic varieties, some planted in the late 19th century. Produced every year since 1966 from gravelly soils along an old Russian River bed, it is known for combining dark, briary fruit with distinctive mineral, spicy and herbal complexity, as well as impressive structure and ageworthiness.
