Cote-Rotie Ampodium 2022 Vintage Overview

2022 OVERVIEW

Blue and black fruits drive this Côte-Rôtie, with Rene Rostaing’s 2022 Ampodium showing layers of black cherry, red plum and violet over a subtle earthy, spicy core. Medium-bodied yet concentrated, it glides on finely structured tannins and a long, precise finish that promises even greater refinement with a few years of cellaring.

About Cote-Rotie Ampodium

Ampodium is René Rostaing’s approachable, village-level Côte‑Rôtie cuvée drawn from many small parcels around the village of Ampuis; made principally from Syrah (with Rostaing’s classic use of whole‑cluster fermentation) and raised mostly in large demi‑muids with minimal new oak, it shows a perfumed, peppery Côte‑Rôtie signature—violet and floral lift over black‑ and red‑berry fruit, olive/earthy notes and a lively, stemmy freshness that reflects the steep, granitic slopes of the appellation.
