Quinta do Noval Vintage Port 2022 storms out of the glass with dense black cherry and blackberry compote layered over dark chocolate, licorice and warm spice, all wrapped in a formidable, tightly knit structure. Massive tannins and generous sweetness give a velvety, almost chewy feel, yet the wine remains poised and focused, promising tremendous complexity as its brooding core slowly evolves over the decades.

Quinta do Noval Vintage Port is the estate’s classic declared-vintage wine, made only in exceptional years from selected plots of its steep schist terraces in the Douro and traditionally foot-trodden in granite lagares before around 18 months’ maturation in large old wood. Typically based on Touriga Nacional with Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Roriz and Sousão, it is known for combining great concentration and power with a distinctive Noval elegance, purity of dark fruit and fine, long tannins, built to age gracefully for decades in bottle.
