Barolo Ornato 2020 Vintage Overview

2020 OVERVIEW

Tightly coiled power drives this Barolo, with dark cherry, blackberry and plum layered over cinnamon, cocoa and a twist of bitter orange, all wrapped in a sheath of fine yet commanding tannin. Pio Cesare Barolo Ornato 2020 feels muscular and polished at once, very much reflecting Serralunga’s depth and minerality, and promises far more nuance as its structure relaxes in bottle. Expect a long, savory finish that lingers with spice, dried herbs and a touch of earth.

About Barolo Ornato

Barolo Ornato is Pio Cesare’s single‑vineyard Nebbiolo from the warm, south‑facing amphitheatre of Ornato in Serralunga d’Alba, where compact limestone‑clay soils and near‑400m altitude yield intensely concentrated fruit. The wine is full‑bodied and structured—ripe red and darker berry aromas layered with spice, earth and floral notes—aged primarily in large oak for extended bottle‑worthiness, with muscular tannins and very long ageing potential. Produced since 1985.
