Richly scented and modern in style, the 2021 Moccagatta Barbaresco Bric Balin layers dark cherry and plum with cedar, sweet baking spices, nutty tones and a touch of floral lift. The palate is concentrated and tightly wound, with broad, muscular tannins and plenty of acidity keeping the lush fruit and oak-driven richness in check, promising significantly more nuance once it has shed some of its structure. This is a serious, powerful Barbaresco that needs time to knit together but already hints at impressive depth and length.
