Chapoutier Ermitage l’Ermite, a towering yet finely etched Hermitage packed with cassis, blackberry and elderberry, layered with smoked meat, spice, espresso and a deep, stony backbone. The palate is dense and vertical, with immense but polished tannins and a finish that seems to stretch on and on, giving a sense of both grandeur and precision that marks this as one of the great recent vintages of l’Ermite.
