Barolo Vignarionda 2018 Vintage Overview

2018 OVERVIEW

In the 2018 Luigi Oddero Barolo Vignarionda, dark plum and red cherry meet notes of spice, smoke and licorice, giving a warm-vintage Barolo that is both aromatically expressive and firmly clenched. The palate is full-bodied, with intense fruit framed by tight, close-grained tannins that bring a long, gripping finish and clearly signal the need for further cellaring. This is a powerful, structured expression of Vignarionda, a touch less opulent than the very top years but still deeply characterful and ageworthy.

About Barolo Vignarionda

Barolo Vignarionda from Luigi Oddero is a single‑vineyard Barolo (100% Nebbiolo) from the tiny, south‑facing Vignarionda plot in Serralunga d’Alba—a rounded hill of limestone‑rich marl that gives the wine notable mineral lift and structure. Produced in very small quantities and aged long in large oak, it shows intense garnet color, concentrated dark‑fruit and floral aromas with balsamic, tobacco and underbrush notes, and a firm, tannic backbone built for long aging.
