Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2021 Vintage Overview

2021 OVERVIEW

Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2021 shows vivid red berries—think raspberry, strawberry and red currant—layered with gentle floral tones, subtle spice and a touch of soft earthiness. The palate is medium-bodied and poised rather than opulent, with fine, firm tannins and a clean, lifted finish that reflects the fresher, more restrained style of this cooler vintage. It’s already charming but will gain harmony and nuance with a little more time in bottle.

About Chateauneuf-du-Pape

Le Vieux Donjon’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a single flagship red cuvée from old-vine parcels across the appellation, typically dominated by Grenache with smaller portions of Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault. Traditionally made—partially destemmed, fermented in concrete and aged mostly in large old foudres—it delivers classic southern Rhône character, combining ripe red and black fruit with Provençal garrigue, spice and a supple but structured palate that ages gracefully for over a decade.
