Typically aged in modest new oak to preserve its delicacy, it marries vivid purity of color and aromas of violet and dark cherry in youth with, over time, a complex, silky tapestry of sous-bois, damp earth, fine leather, and exotic woods that can unfurl beautifully over decades.
