Hermitage 2021 Vintage Overview

2021 OVERVIEW

Graceful in weight yet firmly structured, the 2021 Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage layers pure dark cherry and wild berry fruit with notes of spice, earth and a subtle gamey savor. The palate is medium-bodied but intense, with finely etched tannins and a cool, lifted finish that reflects the freshness of the vintage more than sheer power. This is a poised, classical Hermitage that promises increasing depth and texture with time in the cellar.

About Hermitage

Hermitage by Jean-Louis Chave is the benchmark red and white of this storied northern Rhône hill, blending multiple parcels across nine climats to express the whole of Hermitage rather than a single site. The red, based on Syrah with a small permitted portion of white grapes, is powerful, long-lived and granite-marked, while the white, predominantly Marsanne with some Roussanne, is a richly textured yet finely balanced wine built to develop profound complexity in bottle.
