Ermitage Ex Voto Rouge 2012 Vintage Overview

2012 OVERVIEW

Depth and polish define Guigal’s 2012 Ermitage Ex Voto Rouge, a concentrated yet disciplined Hermitage that layers blackcurrant and boysenberry fruit with dark spice, cracked pepper, violets and a stony, ferrous edge. On the palate it’s plush and full-bodied but remarkably controlled, driven by fine, powdery tannins that keep all that sweet, dense fruit in line and carry it through a long, even, intensely detailed finish. This vintage stands out for its combination of power and reserve, giving an impression of great breeding and a very long life ahead.

About Ermitage Ex Voto Rouge

Ermitage Ex-Voto Rouge is Guigal’s spectacular, small-production Hermitage bottling—made from old Syrah vines on the steep, granite-rich climats (notably Les Bessards, Les Greffieux, Les Murets and L’Hermite) and only released in exceptional years. It’s deeply concentrated, oak-aged for many months in new French barrels, and shows classic Hermitage power and tannic structure with black fruits, crushed stone, leather, spice and long aging potential.
