Barolo Arborina 2020 Vintage Overview

2020 OVERVIEW

Energy is the calling card of the 2020 Elio Altare Barolo Arborina, which layers crisp red cherry and cranberry with hints of rose petal, spice box, leather and a cool, stony edge. The palate is medium-bodied yet intense, driven by firm, linear tannins that feel polished rather than rustic, giving the wine lift and precision despite the warm vintage. It finishes long and savory, with vibrant acidity keeping the fruit taut and promising rewarding complexity with a few more years in bottle.

About Barolo Arborina

Barolo Arborina is Elio Altare’s single‑vineyard Barolo from the family’s Arborina amphitheatre in La Morra, made from 100% Nebbiolo on south/southeast calcareous‑clay and sandy marl soils; it’s notable for floral rose and red‑berry perfume, bright minerality and fine, velvety tannins. Fermented in stainless steel and aged about 24 months in French barrique (with a modest portion new), it’s an elegant, La Morra‑styled Barolo that marries freshness and inner concentration in a relatively small annual production.
