Volnay 2023 Vintage Overview

2023 OVERVIEW

Silky red fruits lead the 2023 Dominique Lafon Volnay, with lifted aromas of cherry, dried strawberry and gentle floral tones layered over subtle earth and fine mineral spice. The palate is midweight yet generous, with polished, fine-grained tannins and a rounded texture that keeps the high-toned fruit precise and elegant. Fresh, pure and already very charming, it should also develop graceful complexity with a few years in bottle.

About Volnay

Dominique Lafon’s Volnay is a village-level Pinot Noir from parcels around Volnay (notably Les Lurets with some Santenots fruit) that reflects the estate’s organic/biodynamic approach and precise, low-intervention élevage. It typically shows perfumed red-berry and floral notes, fine chalky minerality and a silky texture—often made with variable whole‑cluster inclusion and gentle oak ageing to give village-level concentration and age-worthy finesse.
